The 2010 Alumni Holiday Gathering will be held Saturday, December 11 from 6:00pm-8:00pm on the SCGSAH campus.  All alumni of the residential high school are invited to attend.

Celebrate 30 years since the inaugural summer program! Kim Harne of the summer class of 1981 is working to plan a reunion for this special group. Alumni

The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is home to a growing body of alumni from all walks of life in every corner of the state. The first graduates to attend the school were the 1981 summer students. The Summer Honors Program students between 1981 and 2000 are our Founding Alumni. Many of them say that the summer they spent at the Governor's School was life-changing. Just as we helped to shape their lives, so have they shaped ours by their many contributions to our state, nation and world at large.

Our first residential high school class graduated in 2001 and with each succeeding class comprise our Residential High School Alumni. Even though many of these individuals are still earning advanced degrees and/or just starting their careers, they have been recognized for their advanced artistry, focus, discipline and high level of critical thinking. Our Residential High School Alumni now join our Founding Alumni in acceptances to top colleges, universities, conservatories and ballet companies, and are seeking a wide range of careers.

Among our Alumni, we currently have:

  • Drama graduates receiving scholarships to nearly every major actor-training program in America and alumni featured on television, in major motion pictures, and on stages throughout the U.S. and abroad.
  • Dancers in all of the nation's major professional ballet companies
  • Musicians at Peabody Conservatory, Eastman, Oberlin, Northwestern University, Hartt and Manhattan Schools of Music.
  • Visual artists attending such nationally known programs as Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Kansas City Art Institute, and Cooper Union, as well as excellent in-state schools such as Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina.  Graduates are also working as artiists, designers, and teachers in a wide range of fields from photography and graphic design to art history.
  • Writers published in We Are Quiet, We Are Loud: The Best Young Writers & Artists in America, a collection of works published by Scholastic Press (May 2008).
