Greetings from our President

Welcome to the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities! We appreciate your interest in our exciting summer arts programs and our exceptional public residential high school.

With the founding of the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities as a residential, nine month program, South Carolina became a national leader in educating emerging artists of high school age. Our summer programs have always attracted wonderfully talented young artists, and now emerging artists from throughout the state also have the unique opportunity to attend a high school that supports their passion for the arts. If you attend high school in our state or if you are parents of a young artist, I urge you to review this site. No other state in the nation offers its high school students the opportunity to attend a residential arts program, focused exclusively on emerging artists in dance, drama, creative writing, music, and visual arts with no tuition charge, no room charge, and only a “food” fee that may be offset by financial aid.

Our impressive campus is located near galleries, theatres and performance halls in downtown Greenville. Students can walk to performances and shows by many regional and world famous artists and also enjoy the beauty of Reedy River Falls Park adjoining our campus.

Attending the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our faculty of practicing artists and active scholars provides individual attention and specialized instruction to encourage and support the artistic and intellectual growth of our students. There is no place in the country like this school—review this site, come for a visit, and you will understand why we are so proud to be a part of this extraordinary school where we educate South Carolina’s most committed and exciting young artists.
