SCGSAH Launches New Arts Summer Camp in Conway

Christina Vandiver

The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is partnering with Horry-Georgetown Technical College to provide a half-day, arts summer camp, July 8-11, 2024, for rising 7th-9th grade students. Participants will engage in immersive, collaborative arts experiences in drama, music, writing, and visual arts. Interested families can register to attend by June 24 at SCGSAH.org/coastal-creatives.

Under the theme "Connect and Collaborate as We Amplify the Arts," Coastal Creatives will offer a transformative experience that inspires young minds to use the arts as a powerful tool for problem solving and creative expression. Activities will include drama games, rhythm exercises, creative writing workshops, and watercolor painting. As a Governor’s School outreach program, no prior arts experience is required, making this an inclusive opportunity for all interested students.

Coastal Creatives will take place on the Conway Campus of Horry-Georgetown Technical College located at 2050 Highway 501 East, Conway, SC 29526. The only cost to participate is $50, and this includes lunch and all necessary materials. Financial assistance is available for eligible students.
