Help transform the lives of South Carolina's most promising visual artists as they learn creative processes and techniques from established artists.

The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities Foundation supports the Governor's School Creative Writing Department by funding needs not met by state operating funds, such as underwriting special programs, projects, and experiences offered at the school by providing financial and other assistance:

Guest Artists

Guests artists play a valuable role in the classroom and make the Governor's School experience so unique compared to other schools.  Last school year, the foundation funded $9,500 to bring professional guest artists to campus.

"Guest artists provide students with professional examples of how to make art from people at the forefront of their field. With the generous support of the foundation, our students have spoken with sculptors, animators, photographers, museum professionals, painters, and more professional artists. The students have found these invaluable experiences to be inspiring." David Gerhard, Instructor and Department Chair, Visual Arts Department

Department Support

As a residential arts school, students have unique needs and opportunities, and the Foundation is committed to assuring access to those opportunities to all students. The Foundation is able to support special learning experiences and other costs for guest models, artwork framing, faculty professional development, and competition awards.
